Care & Services / Lactation & Feeding Support

Help your baby feed, grow, and thrive

Feeding is both nutrition and a relationship. We help families evaluate feeding, growth, comfort, and practical next steps for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, formula feeding, or a combination.

Care built around your child

Care built around the whole child

Early feeding can bring questions about latch, milk transfer, supply, pumping, bottle use, formula, weight gain, pain, spit-up, or how to combine feeding methods. Support begins with the baby’s health and growth, the caregiver’s health and goals, and what is sustainable for the family.

Routine feeding support is available during pediatric visits, and dedicated lactation appointments may be scheduled. Confirm clinician availability and the appropriate appointment type when scheduling.

How this care can help

Start with the concern. We will help organize what comes next.

Feeding history

Review frequency, duration, cues, comfort, equipment, and family goals.

Growth & transfer

Connect weight and growth with what happens during and after feeds.

Empty infant scale and clinical counter in a Sapphire Pediatrics exam room

Practical options

Discuss breastfeeding, pumping, bottles, formula, or a combined plan without judgment.

Follow-up

Identify what to watch, when to return, and whether another evaluation may help.

A clear next step

A clear plan for what comes next

Call promptly for difficulty waking to feed, repeated forceful or green vomiting, breathing or color changes during feeds, signs of dehydration, worsening jaundice, fever in a young infant, or concern that a baby is not getting enough to eat. Emergency symptoms require emergency care.

Helpful before your visit

Questions families often ask.

Schedule on MyChart, or call our office if you’re unsure which appointment best fits your child’s needs.

Will we be pressured to feed one way?

The clinical goal is safe nutrition, growth, caregiver health, and a workable family plan.

Can support happen at a newborn visit?

Often, yes. A dedicated visit may be recommended when more time or follow-up is needed.

Should I bring my pump or bottles?

Ask when scheduling. Bringing the equipment you use may help the team understand the concern.
