Care built around your child

Care built around the whole child

The first days with a newborn can feel joyful, exhausting, and unfamiliar all at once. Early pediatric visits help make sure your baby is adapting well after birth and give your family a trusted place to ask questions.

At an early visit, the care team generally reviews hospital and birth information, feeding and diaper patterns, weight, jaundice, sleep safety, newborn screening results, and family adjustment. Your baby receives a physical examination, and the pediatrician explains what to watch for before the next visit.

Jaundice & screening

Connect hospital information, newborn screening, and the baby’s current examination.

Safe sleep & home care

Talk through sleep safety, temperature, cord care, crying, and what is normal.

Family adjustment

Make room for caregiver questions, recovery, support, and the realities of the first weeks.

A clear next step

A clear plan for what comes next

If your baby is born at Rose Medical Center, tell the hospital team that you have chosen Sapphire so current hospital arrangements can be confirmed. If your baby is born elsewhere, call before discharge or as soon as possible afterward to arrange an office visit. Bring discharge paperwork, available screening information, insurance details, and feeding questions.

Helpful before your visit

Questions families often ask.

Schedule on MyChart, or call our office if you’re unsure which appointment best fits your child’s needs.

When should I call before the first appointment?

Call promptly for feeding difficulty, fewer wet diapers than expected, worsening jaundice, repeated vomiting, unusual sleepiness, breathing concerns, or any change that worries you. A rectal temperature of 100.4°F or higher in a baby younger than 3 months needs prompt medical evaluation.

Does Sapphire support both breastfeeding and formula feeding?

Yes. The goal is safe, adequate nutrition and a feeding plan that works for the baby and family. Additional lactation and feeding support may be arranged when needed.

What if hospital records have not arrived?

Do not delay a medically needed visit. Bring the information you have, and the care team can help determine what records are still needed.
