Care built around your child

Care built around the whole child

Asthma can cause coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath. Symptoms may come and go and can be affected by viral illnesses, exercise, allergens, smoke, cold air, or other triggers. Not every cough or wheeze is asthma, especially in young children.

Sapphire’s conservative scope includes evaluation of common breathing concerns, treatment of asthma symptoms during appropriate office visits, review of symptom control and medication use, education about inhaler technique, written plans or school forms when clinically appropriate, follow-up, and referral when needed.

Helpful before your visit

Questions families often ask.

Schedule on MyChart, or call our office if you’re unsure which appointment best fits your child’s needs.

Does coughing with exercise always mean asthma?

No. Exercise symptoms deserve evaluation because several conditions can cause them.

Can Sapphire complete a school asthma plan?

A clinician can review the child’s current condition and plan before signing an appropriate school form.

When is specialty care needed?

Referral may be appropriate when the diagnosis is uncertain, symptoms remain poorly controlled, severe episodes occur, or additional testing is needed.
